CHAIRPERSON OF NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR WOMEN NOMINATED FOR ANOTHER TERM OF THREE YEARS

  1. Central Government has nominated Rekha Sharma as a Chairperson of the National Commission for Women for another term of three years and she will hold the Office for another three years or till the age of sixty-five years, whichever is earlier.
  2. Rekha Sharma succeeded Lalitha Kumaramangalam and became the Chairperson of National Commission for Women on August 7, 2018 for the first time.
  3. National Commission for Women is a statutory body which was established in the year 1992 and the first Chairperson of National Commission for Women was Jayanti Patnaik.
  4. The main task of this Commission is to give advice to the government on all policy matters affecting women.
