CHAIRPERSON OF NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR WOMEN NOMINATED FOR ANOTHER TERM OF THREE YEARS
- Central Government has nominated Rekha Sharma as a Chairperson of the National Commission for Women for another term of three years and she will hold the Office for another three years or till the age of sixty-five years, whichever is earlier.
- Rekha Sharma succeeded Lalitha Kumaramangalam and became the Chairperson of National Commission for Women on August 7, 2018 for the first time.
- National Commission for Women is a statutory body which was established in the year 1992 and the first Chairperson of National Commission for Women was Jayanti Patnaik.
- The main task of this Commission is to give advice to the government on all policy matters affecting women.
