CENTRE NOTIFIES NEW RULES FOR APPOINTMENT TO 14 TRIBUNALS

  1. The new criteria and the appointment pertains to key tribunals like the NCLAT, TDSAT, Armed Forces Tribunal, National Green Tribunal and more.
  2. For most of the tribunals the minimum requirement for a Chairperson is to be a person amongst sitting and retired judges of the High Courts or the Supreme Court.
  3. Apart from the details of the salaries and allowances of the chairpersons and its members, the rules also lay down a mechanism for the complaints alleging any definite charge of misbehavior or incapacity to perform the functions of the office in respect of a Chairperson or Member.
